Hollywood Cameos

Every year a new crop of music videos sprout up and show us that Hollywood’s biggest names are just like us – they wanna be rockstars too. Here are some of our favourite Hollywood cameos in music videos from the past year.

Okay 2015 – it’s your move.

Just One of The Guys, Jenny Lewis

Former child star Jenny Lewis still has the acting bug, or at least still enjoys being surrounded by actors. For her song Just One of The Guys, the first single from her 2014 album The Voyager, Lewis snagged Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart and Brie Larson to fake-play instruments and go drag. Who knew Anne Hathaway would look so good with a mustache and rat tail? Give this woman another Oscar!

Not The Only One, Sam Smith

First Sam Smith writes and performs a song that perfectly encapsulates the feelings of anyone who has realized they’re being cheated and told their suspicions are paranoia. FEELS. Then he casts The Mindy Project’s Chris Messina and Glee’s Dianna Agron to portray the gut wrenching situation. FEELS ON FEELS.

I Bet My Life, Imagine Dragons

Imagine Dragons scored future Oscar-winning actor (lbr, it’s gonna happen) Dane DeHaan for their trippy Choose Your Own Adventure video for the uplifting single I Bet My Life. That guy can literally act his way out of a boat going over a waterfall.

Tacky, Weird Al

When you’re Weird Al, you get on your comedy cell phone shaped like a giant banana and send out the comedy bat signal that looks like a big smiley face in the sky to signal Margaret Cho, Aisha Tyler, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black to show up at your shoot for the Tacky video. At least we assume that’s how it works.

Steal My Girl, One Direction

Someone in One Direction is a really, really, really big fan of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

L.A. Love, Fergie

Fergie Ferg is finally returning to the music charts and she’s bringing all her famous friends with her, including Chelsea Handler, Kelly Osbourne, Wilmer Valderrama, Hilary Swank, Tommy Chong, and Taylor Momsen. L.A. looks super fun, you guys.

We Exist, Arcade Fire

Actor Andrew Garfield gave one of the best performances of the year with his role as a Transgender person facing homophobia in Arcade Fire’s We Exist. It was a bold choice for Garfield, who is in the middle of a huge blockbuster trilogy role as Spider Man and made us even more impressed with the young actor.

Black Widow, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora

Iggy Azalea took a note from Justin Bieber and his video As Long As You Love Me and decided to cast Kill Bill actor Michael Madsen in her Black Widow video, which also features a cameo from Paul Sorvino. We think it’s safe to assume that martial arts and gangster movies are as big in Azalea’s native Australia as they are in North America.

You and I (Nobody In The World), John Legend

John Legend featured a number of girls and women in his beautiful, emotional and inspiring music video You And I (Nobody In The World), including Fresh Prince of Bel Air actress Tatyana Ali, Orange Is The New Black actress Laverne Cox, comedienne Tig Notaro and Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen.
